Wheelbarrow Planter (Plan No. 879)

Plan 879
Garden classic is full of charm!
This wheelbarrow planter project is a do-it-yourself version of a garden classic. Filled with potted plants or flowers, it will add a touch of warm-weather color to the porch or patio. When it cools down outside, simply roll it indoors, park it next to the fireplace and fill with pine cones or kindling.

Besides being versatile, it's easy to build–and at a fraction of the cost of the ready-made versions you find in garden centers and nurseries. The project requires about 12 board feet of redwood (as pictured; other woods like pine or cedar also work), a small quantity of other lumber, fasteners and finish. Most of the pieces are traced from full-size patterns.

To build, simply trace the patterns onto wood, cut everything out and sand. Next, assemble the pieces using glue and nails. Finally, add sealer (as pictured), stain or paint.

The wheelbarrow planter measures about 40 inches long by 10 inches wide by 15 inches tall.
